Day 2 of OPEN Forum / GA Hackathon! #reinventlocal

And we’re back! Day 2 (and final day) of the OPEN Forum / GA hackathon!

Plenty of people stayed all the way until 2 AM last night (the new 2AM! so… 3AM) until they got kicked out – can’t wait to see what these guys are coming up with!

Will attempt to update as things happen – people are just trickling in right now, but demo time should be exciting!

Here’s today’s schedule:

9:00 – door open, breakfast!
1:00 –  demos due! lunch!
1:45 – demo begins
3:00 – judging
3:30 – award ceremony
4:00 – event ends

Stay tuned! Just like yesterday, watch the Google+ album for more pictures (https://plus.google.com/photos/114661835642537103397/albums/5671539453317259953)

10:04 AM: Turntable is up! http://turntable.fm/reinventinglocal

10:40 AM: The judges are trickling through – I spot Scott Roen from OPEN Forum and Oren Michels from Mashery

11:00 AM: Seems like there’s going to be a lot of people heading here to check out the demos – lots of excitement on Twitter (#reinventlocal)!

11:18 AM: This morning, small business owners are taking a class “Building Your Voice: A Primer to Content Marketing”, and in the afternoon, there’s a session called “A Community of Customers: Loyalty through Interaction”.  People are already showing up!

11:38 AM: Found out last night our film crew is the same crew that did the Google “Dear Susie” ads – AWESOME.  This better turn out awesome! Har har

12:10 AM : Ed Gilligan from Amex has been around for the past 40 mins or so – I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY CAMERAS FOLLOWING ONE PERSON.

1:00 PM: AND WE’RE DONE! Here’s a list of hacks (http://reinventinglocal.com/index.php?title=Hacks_List).  Lunch time!

1:50 PM: It’s a packed house! Pictures to come of course, but lots of people here.  Seats are ready, cameras are ready – we’re demo-ing soon!

2:09 PM: It starts! FreshTomatoes is on, talking about getting all your favorite review pages onto one page – from various sources.  InstantSq from Frank Denbow is on! Picture viewer from fourquare.  PoorSquare.us help you sort deals on foursquare, and the ease at which to redeem these deals.

2:14 PM: Pongplaya – a pong game that ties into Ordr.in! Whoever win gets free food!

2:19 PM: FarmTab allows you to fund your local farms, like local farmers in Union Square.  Android app ready to go! Can use as a POS and allow people to check-out (?).  Can set up a pin number/account, take a picture, and when visiting farmer again, can “invest” by going to the farmer.

2:22 PM: ShopsView and FarmerFare – lots of farming thing going on here today?

2:23 PM: Buildingly – SO COOL. Build pages for buildings in your neighborhood!

2:30 PM: hooky – check out their page (“hooky is the friend who can tell you how best to spend 20 minutes or 3 hours in their neighborhood. It’s not about planning ahead – it’s about going with the flow AND getting guidance on a great, locals-only experience when you get there.”)

2:35 PM: I’m going to stop updating like crazy, but point out ones I like – check the page for more detail! http://reinventinglocal.com/index.php?title=Hacks_List

2:40 PM: CROWDSOURCED POWER OUTLET LOCATOR, AWESOME (wattsnear.me)  Never run out of power again!

2:45 PM: VenueSpot = for small business owners to create packaged deals, just like air+hotel+flight.  Very neat.
